Tolls & Tractions Laws

Driving in Colorado is an adventure, especially during our popular ski seasons.

Here are some links to help you navigate your way through the tolls and the traction laws.

How to Appropriately Use Tolls

There’s a lot to learn about how to appropriately use toll lanes. It’s important to know that travelers are never forced to pay a toll and can always choose to travel in the adjacent free general purpose lanes. All motorists traveling on the I-70 Mountain Express Lane – including motorcycles, carpoolers and hybrids – who choose to use the Express Lane will pay a toll. If you’re renting a car, it’s important to know how rental cars bill you. Before you rent a car, learn more on ExpressToll.com

Winter Driving Instructions

The Colorado Department of Transportation will implement a Traction Law when weather conditions require snow tires. During ski/snow season, Lodge by The Blue highly recommends the use of a four-wheel-drive or an all-wheel-drive vehicle. The driveway leading up to the property is on an incline and is extremely difficult for two-wheel-drive vehicles to climb.
